Sarrou’s second place in Short Race Team BMC’s highlight in Les Gets
The World Cup event in Les Gets did not fully meet Team BMC's hopes and expectations. On Friday, Jordan Sarrou came extremely close to victory in the Short Race, but on Sunday, the team's performance suffered.
Janis Baumann was the first Team BMC rider to compete on an action-packed Sunday in the French Alps. The Swiss U23 rider had to set an early alarm for his 9 AM race. A slip in the final lap cost him a few positions, and Baumann ultimately finished just inside the top 30, in 29th place.
Following him, Steffi Häberlin secured a solid 24th spot. The Swiss cyclist has been steadily improving her race results, demonstrating a positive trend.
In the XCO race, the three elite riders—Sarrou, Titouan Carod, and Juri Zanotti—all got off to an excellent start. However, after 30 minutes of racing, Sarrou dropped from the first group and struggled in the heat. Carod and Zanotti overtook him, with the Italian becoming Team BMC's highest finisher in 24th. The French national champion crossed the line in 26th, while Sarrou ultimately had to settle for 34th.
The World Cup event in Les Gets marks the end of the races on European soil. In a few weeks, Team BMC will be heading overseas to the USA and Canada for the last two World Cups of the season.
