During the final climb, Prati di Tivo (14.7km, 7.0% avg), Storer's breakaway attempt was caught. However, the Australian from Tudor Pro Cycling still had energy left. He managed to keep pace with the GC favorites and finished the stage in ninth position.
Storer is currently in 12th place in the Giro d'Italia general classification. The following stages are predominantly flat. Tudor will be looking to support sprinter Alberto Dainese in achieving stage results.

Dainese said: "When Pogacar made his move, and both he and Geraint Thomas were caught, I was already pushing my limits. I had to brake a bit next to the barriers. I felt a bit disappointed, but there are more opportunities in the next few days."
The former world champion did not travel to Levens with the security of having good legs. "I was sick for three days this week," he said after the finish. "I was doubting whether to actually start after yesterday’s recon. However, this morning I felt much better and I am proud to be the one wearing the national champion's jersey in the following months!”
